I am incredibly grateful today. ❤️
This morning, CTV News Toronto and CP24 shared the story behind my new pro bono initiative which is offering free legal representation to first-time offenders charged for stealing food out of necessity during the holiday season.
I launched this program because, in court, I saw people who weren’t stealing out of greed… but out of survival. Families struggling. Seniors ashamed. Parents trying to feed their kids.
No one should lose their future over a loaf of bread, a carton of eggs, or a can of tuna.
To see this message reach the broader community through two of Canada’s most trusted news outlets is truly humbling.
🙏 Thank you to Alex Arsenych , CTV News and CP24 News for shining a light on food insecurity, compassion in the justice system, and the people who often go unheard.
This coverage will help many individuals find support when they need it most and that means more than you know.
I hope this story reminds us all:
Everyone deserves dignity. Everyone deserves a second chance.
